Gallery . Catwalk .
The entry to the house begins with a gallery, a spacious corridor which gives a person a clear sense of arrival. At the end of the entry gallery, one beholds and steps down into the hall, a spacious triple-storey-high vaulted room incorporating the living, dining and entertainment area, and framed by the length of two sides by water – a cascading reflecting pool on one side and a serene lotus-leaved live pond on the other. These two water features on the far side and across the hall are separated by a floor-level bridge.
The catwalk forms an internal timber balcony three storeys high ringing three sides of the entertainment hall. Canvas fabric windows open up to a great view of the distant hills and the Twin Towers of Kuala Lumpur. A seating bench runs along an entire side of the catwalk, looking out to a great vista, and ideal for a quiet, contemplative read or an inspiring height from which to work with your laptop.
The outdoor swimming pool comes into the living and dining hall by way of an infinity edge cascading about five feet into the reflection pool. The swimming pool has a lap length of 21 metres, and another square section that is the thick “stem” of the letter T. The most unusual feature of the pool however is that it proceeds right into and underneath a pavilion on the far end which sits astride it about one metre above the water surface.
