Meditation Pavillion

The meditation pavilion however is the architectural pi`ece de r’esistance of Sri Ananda.  It is built astride one section of the swimming pool one metre above the surface of the water.  It’s floor is a construction of timbered joists and tempered glass, in effect transparent to the water.  The walls of this pavilion are timbered mullions (angled struts) spaced two feet apart from the floor to the roof.  The roof is Jimmy Lim’s signature umbrella roof with timbered ribs radiating from the apex, linked to the mullions, and attached to the joists that form the framework for the floor.  One may literally swim into the pavilion and climb onto the floor! The cooling microclimate created by having a transparent floor suspended over a body of water dispenses with the need to aircondition this unique tropical pavilion, the likes of which have never been seen or built before in Malaysia.
